Dear Earth, I am your only Moon, to Eternity and forever true

Sometimes I wonder when the Big Bang happened

Did you choose me or did I choose you?

 

Moon must journey across the sky

and into all windows peep

Moonlight gently touch a tired soul there

till at peace and fast asleep

 

"I can never make out," said the Moon to the Sea

"Do I drown in you or do you swallow me?"

 

Quit trying to get me to sing to your tune

Might as well jump high and try to basket the Moon.

 

I looked at the Moon so far above

It spoke of dreams and wistful love

 

Wonder what she’s seeking, enquiring of stars in desperation

Lost Moon, in tears, across the sky, from a loved one separation?

 

“I’ve seen it all,” said the Moon, “The good, the bad and the sages;

molten lava turn to beautiful Earth; I’ve been around for ages”
